Knee, Foot & Ankle Pain

Knee, Foot & Ankle Pain

Lower leg pain, including knee, foot and ankle pain, gets more common as we get older. It can be caused by spending excessive periods of time standing, from repetitive motion, sports or car accident injuries or from a chronic condition, like arthritis. Common knee injuries include:

  • Runner’s knee
  • Tendonitis
  • Overuse
  • Bursitis
  • Arthritis
  • Sprains and strains

Ankle pain is typically caused by Achilles tendonitis and sprains and strains. Foot pain can be caused by standing for extended periods of time, wearing bad shoes and by plantar fasciitis, which is a condition that affects the tendon that runs along the bottom of the foot.
Whether your knee, foot or ankle pain has been ongoing or started recently, chiropractic care can help. Treatment starts with an initial evaluation and examination that may include taking digital images and x-rays of the injured area of your leg. Once our chiropractor knows the causes of your pain, a treatment program is created, which may include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments
  • Ice and heat therapy
  • Cold laser therapy
  • Ultrasound therapy
  • Corrective exercises in order to strengthen the muscles in your legs

We may also recommend wearing knee or ankle braces to give the joint more stability while you heal.
