Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that has not been linked to a single cause or determining factor, though some causes may be through a traumatic event or injury, a previous severe infection and/or genetics. Individuals with fibromyalgia often experience widespread body pain that include muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. These are known as trigger points. Additional symptoms of fibromyalgia include exhaustion or fatigue, depression, anxiety, severe headaches, TMJ, insomnia or trouble sleeping, mental fogginess and IBS. The condition occurs in women more often than men, but both sexes can develop it.

Chiropractic treatments focus on whole-body health and managing the symptoms of fibromyalgia. The reason symptoms management is so important is because there is not yet a cure for the condition. However, it can be successfully managed through a variety of holistic treatment options that include:

  • Manual and instrument adjustments
  • Cold laser therapy
  • Corrective exercises
  • Resistance training
  • Lifestyle advice you help you increase your self-care regimen and keep your levels of stress low
